There are many different types of superchargers available to increase the Power, Performance and Acceleration of your vehicle. The general definition of a Supercharger is a "Crank Driven Air Pump" capable of pushing a greater than atmospheric amount of air into the engine to increase volumetric efficiency resulting in greater combustion explosion within the engine. The result of which is greater engery which translated into laymans terms means More Power and Torque !

Superchargers are available in many different types, brands and configurations. There is however a main categorical distinction made relating to the operating principle of specific models of supercharger, with the divide being whether categorised as:

A) Blower - The Blower type of Supercharger is termed a "Blower" or Pump because it Blows and Pumps air into the Engine.

B) Compressor - The Compressor type of Supercharger is termed because it "Compresses" the Air as it exits the supercharger.
 
With the Blower type of supercharger the air is not actually compressed within the supercharger, but rather extenrally within the inlet manifold as pressure is built up above atmospheric. This there by creates positive pressure noted as the realised increase in boost levels measured in psi or atmospheric bars such as 1 bar of boost equals aproximately 14psi.
